Originally said to be a home with special features where Whiskey was made during the Prohibition, the home was purchased by Shirley and Loree Doan. Shirley was an office manager at a local Indianapolis bakery, and Loree was retired. Their only daughter, Juanita, would spend her entire life in the home. Juanita was a writer and designer at L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis, until her retirement. To this day, impressions from her writer's desk and chair can be seen on the rustic bedroom flooring. The home is a common floor plan in the area. We have spotted three in Emerson Heights, and at least five in neighboring Irvington with the identical layout. In the mid 2000's the home was purchased, renovated and sold to a local couple who later moved to Southern Indianapolis. In 2008, we purchased the home and have enjoyed it ever since!
We have never found any old whiskey bottles around the house, but to this day we are asked if we have found clues of the home's history, which is well known to some long-time residents.
